Eva Mendes' "Secret Obsession"

This is the print ad for Calvin Klein's latest scent featuring it's newest spokesperson, Eva Mendes. The spicy star also shot a television ad for the megabrand which censors are none too pleased with. In fact, they've insisted that CK either edit the racy content or shoot an entirely different commercial. However they are going to find a fight on their hands with the peeps over at CK who are standing behind the creative freedom of their message. "The Obsession brand resonates in a very provocative place," said Catherine Walsh, senior vice president of American fragrances for Coty Prestige, which holds the Calvin Klein Fragrances license. "And we wanted to do a provocative ad. But we're not trying to be raunchy. There's a lot of skin, but it's done tastefully. Every time we do TV [with the Calvin brand] it comes back with some sort of push-back from the networks — but nothing like this. This time," she vowed, "we're going to fight." So what exactly has the censor's knickers in a twist? "It really taps into the secrecy of a private moment — where it's clear that Eva is having illicit thoughts," said Lori Singer, vice president of global marketing for the brand at Coty Prestige, "It's somewhat up to interpretation — because of how it's shot, and what you see and hear, and what you can't see and hear. You hear her voice, talking about having a sexy secret." Say huh? So she's talking about sexy things? That's not so bad! As much raunchy crap as is on tv, I'm having a hard time believing that this Calvin Freaking Klein ad is that bad.
