Slacker Chic of the Week: Nicole Richie

Photobucket
Nicole Richie has done a complete 180 from her days on "The Simple Life". In fact, she is barely recognizable from the bratty, high maintanance persona she portrayed on her former reality show. Also gone are her days of tight, bright, and tackadocious clothing. Instead, she has replaced her former duds with a new, more mature style, fitting with her new, more mature personality. These days, girls not only want to be Nicole Richie, they want to dress like her too. Nicole's look is comfy, cool, and totally slacker chic. Some of her signature pieces include her ever present bug eye glasses, her scarves (utelized in many creative ways), and her big, bold accessories. She'll soon be capatalizing on the public's tendancy to copy her style when she launches her brand new accessory line entitled "House of Harlow". Not only will the pieces he guaranteed to reflect Richie's unique taste, but the name is a reference to her daughter Harlow, who has truely been a positive influence on her life.
Since becoming a mom, we have definetely noticed a more bohemian influence in Nicole's wardrobe. Loose, flowly dresses have become more prominent, as are billowly tops paired with cut offs or jeans. It's clear that Nicole is always sure to dress practically-wearing something she can actively play with her daughter in, but still maintaining her chicness. She's a testiment to moms everywhere that you don't have to sacrifice style for comfort. Nicole Richie sure has come a long way, baby. She's made her mistakes in the past, faced them like an adult, and grown into a loving and attentive mother, partner, and totally envious style icon. But beneath it all, she still has that sparkle that made us fall in love with her in the first place. And there's nothing simple about that.
