Slacker Chic of the Month: Kim Gordon

Photobucket
You guys are the awesomest. The Queen of the Punk and the Indie Scene Kim Gordon beat out Amber Valletta, Jenna Elfman and even Britney Spears to snag the spot as this year's first Slacker Chic of the Month, proving it's not about how many times you've made the cover of US Weekly, but how much of an impact you've made in the arts. As I said before, Kim is the ultimate inspiration to mothers, musicians, and women everywhere. She's been breaking the mold and paving the way for decades, while still staying true to her beautiful, individual, unique self. The Queen of Punk continues to rock steady with Sonic Youth as well as Free Kitten, while still leaving time for a respected career as an artist.
I would also be remiss if I did not mention my all out adoration for the love affair between Kim and her husband of 25 years, Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore. Not only has their love stood the test of time when monogomy and music rarely mix, but they are a wonderful example of what love should truely be about. Even in this day and age, men who encourage women to pursue their dreams and be the best versions of themselves that they can be are extremely rare. Yet that is exactly what Moore has done for Gordon. He seems to love seeing his wife succeed, and relishes in the success that she's found in various art forms. And that my friends, is true fucking love.
Kim is not just rock and roll-she is the definition of Slacker Chic. Actually, scratch that. If you were wondering what exactly Slacker Chic is, it is Kim Gordon. A cool, bad ass chick who'll play guitar in a Prada dress while smoking a ciggie and rocking out to Dylan and Bikini Kill. Congrats Kim! You are the motherfucking shit and we love you.
