Happy International Women's Day!

We make up 50% of the population, and yet we only get a day. One lousy day! After all our foremothers have done, all that they had risked, all that they had fought for and we only get one stinkin' day of rememberance? What a jip! Although not surprising. If I've learned anything throughout my college education, it's that women constantly downplay their acheivements because they don't want to seem to proud. Well screw that shit! After all our great grandmothers did to ensure an equal future for us they deserve at least a month. At least!
Nevertheless, in the spirit of the entire 24 hours we get to give big up to the ladies of yore, let's give thanks for their unwavering endeavors to give us more choices.
My pick for one of the biggest female inspirations goes to Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Not only was she a phenomenal writer, but she really brought subjects like post partum depression to the forefront, detailing the internal struggle that was merely thought of as a bought with the crazies. She was a feminist in the truest sense of the word. And if you haven't read "The Yellow Wallpaper", I emplore you to do so.
Also majorly amazing were my husband's Polish great greats, the Jarosz's, who risked their lives by saving Jews from nazi concentration camps and smuggling them food, water and medicine. It's women like this-the ones who remain nameless, who deserve the most recognition. So to all the ladies who have sacrificed so that me and you, and all women could have a better life, here's to you!
