In Memory

I don't think any of us will ever forget where we were the moment we heard about the collapse of the first of the Twin Towers on 9/11/2001. That was without a doubt a moment that changed history forever. Lots of innocent, brave people lost their lives that day, and we will always remember their courage in that moment and the people they left behind. Each individual was someone's wife, husband, mother, father, child, friend, or lover. While others may only see numbers or feel daunted at the sea of faces they will never meet, each person was real, and that should never be forgotten.
It's also important that we never forget those crucial days following the attacks. Never before had I seen anyone-American or otherwise-care so much about their fellow man. People opening up their homes, their wallets, their hearts to those who needed assistance. Although that day showed us the absolute ugliness that the world was capable of, it also showed us the beauty of the huamn spirit. We may push and shove and curse at someone when they cut us off but when it really comes down to it, it's good to know that we are capable of standing united.
