January Jones Talks Pre-Mad Men Fame with GQ, Looks Hot While Doing So

Whoa! Talk about not holding anything back! Not only does she give all on screen every week as Mad Men's truly desperate housewife Betty Draper, but apparently January Jones doesn't mind baring *almost* all for magazine covers. The actress steams up the lens in a series of shots for GQ in a lingerie infused, film noir inspired spread for the mag's November issue. January also makes a point to inform both GQ and the public that she's no one trick pony. Despite gaining noteriety thanks to the popular AMC drama, she has actually been working her way up the hollywood ladder by staring in a series of small roles in films like Bandits, Anger Management and We Are Marshall. Here are a few excerpts from the actress' interview with GQ where the actress discusses her life pre and post Mad Men, and being a stoner in high school:

On the disturbing origins of her name: Her parents plucked it from the lead character in Jacqueline Susann’s Once Is Not Enough, a romantic novel that climaxes with a drug-fueled, ellipsis-filled orgy. (“Someone was spreading her legs…in and out…in and out…fuck…suck…everyone was loving her.” January: “Imagine realizing you’re named after that character.”)
On what she was like in high school: “We were the hippies—into the Dead, Zeppelin, Phish. I was a lifeguard at the water park, and I remember the day Jerry died. Over the loudspeaker, it said: ‘Jerry Garcia has died. Everybody meet in the parking lot.’ I probably shouldn’t say that—we were saving lives! But that was definitely a sit-in-the-chair-with-sunglasses afternoon.”
On her brief life as a model: “You’re like an object. They move you around. And I felt like, God, I’m miserable. I hate modeling. When I moved back to New York, the agency said I owed them $20,000. So I left the agency and then—very quickly—decided to go to L.A. and try acting. Without any training.”
On watching one of her first films, "Taboo": “Just get high. That’s the only way to watch it. Get really high.”
On Betty Draper: “I don’t have a lot in common with Betty, but I’m very protective of her. I just feel like she’s trying really hard to make her life good, and make her marriage work, and it just seems hypocritical that when she slips up, people get mad. Because Don does it all the fucking time.”
On not letting some man keep her from her dreams: “The guy I was dating when I first got to L.A. was not supportive of my acting,” she says. “He was like, I don’t think you’re going to be good at this. So—fuck you! He only has nice things to say now—if anything, I should thank him. Because the minute you tell me I can’t do something, that’s when I’m most motivated.” (The interviewer later confirmed that the boyfriend she was speaking about was none other than Ashton Kutcher.)

You know her name sounds like a porn stars name. It is sad to hear how her parents named her though. Crazy. :)

i think i might be the only one who remembers the time when she dated Ashton Kutcher. Then again it's not hard to remember the name "January Jones". At the time I thought she must be an idiot for dating him, but I guess she was way smarter than I gave her credit for. Good for her for not letting him put her down or bully her.
