The 50 Best Dressed Stars of 2009

No matter what your personal style there is no denying it: 2009 was an exciting year for fashion. Perhaps the only good thing to come out of this new depression was the revival of vintage clothes and the acceptance of pretty much everything as style. 2009 was the year in which anything (and I mean anything) goes. Pioneers like Lady GaGa and Rihanna made it perfecly acceptable to wear either nothing or everything on the red carpet. Bubbles, masks, duct tape, a smile, it didn't matter what you were wearing it so long as you wore it well.
Seeing as how there was so much riff raff and fiddle faddle in the fashion world to search through it's a good thing the awesome people at zimbio created this amazing list of the
50 Best Dressed Stars of 2009 including some new fashion faves including January Jones, Diane Kruger and Amanda Sefried. Click on the names below to see geat examples of why these celebs were hailed as best dressed, and as always feel free to share your thoughts. I love hearing your opinions on these things.

Escuela Viejo

I love seeing pics of Dita Von Teese. She reminds me of a fashionable, indulgent part of our history where women draped feather boas lazily across their vanities and applied powder from large, circular boxes that sent puff of decadence floating into the air every time they were opened. An era where people did not need an excuse for breaking into song and dance, used words like "golly" and "shucks" and made out at drive in movie theatres. Dita may technically be in the dirty business of porn but somehow when she does it it's not dirty, it's firty, elegant and respectible. Hell the women takes her clothes off for a living yet she has more female fans than male and that's a really hard thing to do. There's just something about the way she carries herself that doesn't just make chicks adore her, but makes them want to be like her. You know what I think it might be? And this is just off the top of my head here, but I really think it's Dita's confidence that makes her so appealing. She may love garters, thongs and pasties but she doesn't need them to make her feel sexy. Whether she's wearing head to toe Dior or nothing at all she always carries herself with the same level of dignity and sex appeal. That whole "lady on the streets and a freak in the sheets" thing down pat, and I love that about her.
Anyway here are some pics of the porcelain one looking simply fab at Boite the Week in Brazil and performing her Gentry de Paris Revue At The Casino de Paris on the 27th. How jealous am I of that Asian inspired outfit?!? So jalous! Anyone that knows me knows I would jump a nun for an outfit like that!

Winona Ryder Talks Acting, Love and Johnny Depp with Blackbook

She may not have won this month's Slacker Chic of the Week but one thing is for sure: Winona Ryder is back in full swing and ready to re-enter our lives as the one that got away. Since slipping into near oblivion following her shoplifting fiasco Winona has stayed largely out of the public eye. However now at 38 (her birthday was yesterday!) the actress is ready to throw her hat back in the ring and give us all she's got in the upcoming drama "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee". Winona is chatting up the November issue of Blackbook where she discusses her many, many famous boyfriends, finding the right guy and a little unknown named Johnny. Here are a few excerpts I've chosen for you:
On her E! True Hollywood story: "[It] is just wrong-even the flattering stuff!"
On her former relationship with Johnny Depp: "Things changed for me when I met Johnny. This wierd thing happens where you're written about in magazines and you start to think This is who I am. This is how I have to be. I felt restricted and pressured into being the way people perceived me. It was hard for me to find my footing. The Johnny thing made me really afraid of the press because, even though it was about him, I was beside im the entire time."
On the difficulty of finding the right guy: "I hate the thought of having to live my life being so skeptical of everyone. I've just always wanted to find someone who understands what I do, doesn't think my life is so glamorous and who just doesn't really care. In a way actors really do fit that category but I want to be with one who had been around a while. Newly successful people are just as scary as non-celebrities."
On having to talk about that shoplifting incident: "I understand. I'm curious about other people, so I have to understand when people are curious about me."
On not having lost that lovin' feeling about acting: I still don't sleep the night before my first day of shooting. It's a struggle to make good movies today, and I've certainly been in films I'm not thrilled with. I just have to be patient and good in my own life and know that if I never work again I still had a great career.

This Is How You Do It

I kmow I'm almost alone on this one, but I love Megan Fox. More and more every day. Sure she looks pretty good when she's dolled up for an awards show but if you ask me she, like most women, is at her supreme hotness when she keeps it simple. Yesterday the actress was spotted doing a little light furniture shopping in the cutest pair of cutoff denim shorts, a studded belt I am extremly jealous of, a plain white tank top and her signature cardigan sweater. I don't know about you guys but I'm really digging the whole effortless sexy thing. In fact I think cutoffs trump lingerie any day of the week. But I'm really curious to find out what you all think is sexier: Lingerie or a tee and some Daisy Dukes?

Chelsea Handler Covers Playboy-Supposedly

I just have one question for you: Who is this person on the cover of Playboy parading around as Chelsea Handler? Because it sure as hell isn't the comedian. This is quite possibly one of the worst photochop jobs I have ever witnessed in the 2 years or whatever since photoshop has been ruining our culture. Rifreakingdiculous! I don't know who to blame this abomination on. Chelsea's drunk ass for okaying this cover or Playboy for thinking that anyone who has ever laid eyes on Chelsea would believe this is her. Honestly, the photo on the inside resembles her...

...So why doesn't the pic on the cover? If they wanted Chelsea Handler in their magazine they should have put her on there. Don't try fooling us by slapping her face on Cameron Diaz's legs with Pamela Anderson's tits and JLo's abs. This shit just gets more unreal every day I swear to God. Women are not made of interchangable Frankenstein parts that you can just swap out when it's convenient. Chelsea is plenty hot and sessy all on her own. She doesn't need to get the Dr. Christian Troy treatment. Obviously there is a demand to see her in the buff for who she is, so I honestly don't see the point in photoshopping her face onto a different body. (Not to mention the fact that I think she looks waaaaay more smoking in the second picture than on that cover) Sigh, I wonder what Cheuy thinks about all this. I'm sure he's shaking his head in disapproval. He loves Chelsea just the way she is-just like we do.

Good Morning, Bad Jacket

I
only have one word for Mary Kate Olsen regarding the peach jacket she sported on today's episode of Good Morning America. Or rather, my friends Crockett and Tubbs have something they'd like to say...

That's eyeball language for "...the hell??" Actually Crockett looks a little amused. Then again you would too if you just saw someone sweating your style so hard. I on the other hand had this reaction:

I also can't help but ask why MK aka Daisy Buchanan aka The Other One and her sister Queen Ashley insist on dressing like what I'm assuming the Ying and Yang symbol would look like if they had hair? Here's a word to the wise: If you really want people to start thinking of you as seperate individuals it's probably a good idea to stop dressing like half of a whole.

Reese Witherspoon is Louboutin Lovely

Those shoes! That stockings! Those shoes! Reese Witherspoon has never been one to be right on trend but she certainly was yesterday when she showed up at Good Morning America to promote her new perfume for Avon, "In Bloom". The actress, who is usually known for her vintage inspired, throw-back style was sporting some great gray textured tights and Louboutin Mamanouk Booties underneath a comfy navy sweater dress. Now when I say that Reese is rarely in line with the trends I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. Her mantra seems to be stick with what's timeless rather than with what's en vogue at the moment. Therefore odds are if you see Reese wearing it-regardless of whether it's trendy-it's a safe bet it'll look equally as stylish 10, 20, or 30 years from now. Despite her young age the actress really has a sense of class and dignity. I definitely see her as a Grace Kelly/blonde Hepburn sort of way. Future generations can look back on her red carpet events and get inspired by a real style icon.
On a seperate note, I know it's so silly but "Sweet Home Alabama" is one of my favorite films ever. It reminds me so much of my husband and I. No matter how crappy of a mood I'm in that film always puts a smile on my face. Just a little tip from me to you for the next time you're feeling bummed out.
And just in case you're looking to replicate this outfit, you can check out some similar dresses here or here or you could do what I usually do and scour ebay or your local thrift store. You can almost always find a dress similar to this one for a couple of bucks. That leaves you with more money left to splurge on other things like shoes and bubblegum and records. Or whatever the kids are spending their nickels on these days.

Flare's 10 Best Dressed of October

As much as I have made fun, October has been a pretty good month for fashion. Between Paris Fashion Week and the various premieres and parties the A-listers have attended there have been no shortage of excuses to dress up to the 9's. Flare magazine has even pieced together what they believe to be the fiercets looks of the fall month to date. From Kate Moss' black leather ensemble at Miu Miu to Katie Holmes' preppy peek-a-boo sheer style at the Women in Hollywood Tribute there seemed to be something for just about every type of fashion supaluva (as Gwen would probably say it) So let's take a look at some of the hottest looks from one cool month. Which one of these ladies do you think is sporting the best style? Personally I'd have to go with Rihanna at Chanel's Spring show. That girl always knows how to make what she's wearing look edgy and rock and roll. I love that about her.
