I know I don't normally post on the weekends, but when I saw this incredible editorial of Marion Cotillard in the March issue of Jalouse magazine I just knew I couldn't keep it to myself. As you may recall, I am a huge Marion worshipper, adoring the Frenchwoman for her risky roles and ability to put it all on the line in the name of art. I also love the soft, romantic aura of these pictures-something I certainly could use more of in these dark, gray February days. Oh what I wouldn't give to be wearing a sun dress with no shoes and dangling my bare feet from the inside of a souped up Chevy! That reality might not be possible until at least April, but in the meantime a girl can daydream, can't she?

Look of the Day: Anna Paquin in Marios Schwab

The True Blood actress stunned at last night's 12th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards in a figure hugging Marios Schwab mini from the designer's Fall 2009 collection. Love the dress, love the hair, love the makeup, love the shoes, love the girl!

Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter Make "Alice in Wonderland" a Family Affair

Only here at Slacker Chic would Helena Bonham Carter make the best dressed list! The phenomenal female (whom we affectionately refer to as HB(I)C) attended last night's red carpet premiere of "Alice in Wonderland" with her husband Tim Burton and their son Billy and I gotta say, ain't nothing wrong with the way this woman looks. She has her own style, her own gig, and doesn't give one flying eff whether you or I approve of her shenanigans-Which is probably why she was millimeters away from stealing the title of Slacker Chic of the Year away from Katherine Moennig back in December. When it comes to HB(I)C you guys, much like myself, seem to really gravitate towards Helena's fearless choices. Whether it's her movie roles or style, HBIC always does what she wants, when she wants, and that's why we love her. And don't even get me started on the unbelievable genius that is Tim Burton. I can only begin to imagine what goes on inside his cranium. If I've said it once I've said it a million times: If they sold tickets inside his mind ala "Being John Malkovich", I'd be first in line for that ride. The man is madness and utterly irreplaceable. Quite frankly, I feel priviledged to live during his time, as Burton's film will surely go down in cinimatic history as works of art.
And on a completely irrelevant note, why was Anne Hathaway the only one at that premiere that can hold her own damn umbrella? They're called arms. Use them.

ScarJo Helps Haiti with Handbags

When it comes to celebrities willing to lend a helping hand, my favorite girl Scarlett Johansson is always at the top of the list, ready and willing to give where she can. In the past the actress has participated in the ONE campaign and is currently a Global Ambassador for the aid and development agency, Oxfam. And to help raise funds for the organization the actress teamed up with clothing brand Mango (of whom she is currently the spokesperson) to design a Haiti themed handbag. From March and while stocks last, this £16.90 handbag will be available in the more than 1,390 MANGO stores worldwide and part of the profits will be donated to the NGO Oxfam International (Intermón Oxfam in Spain). The print on the handbag represents the ancient cartography of Haiti, and contains the message “Supporting the people of Haiti” written and signed by the actress.
Scarlett expressed her support for the program, saying “I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Mango to promote conscious consumerism and to benefit Oxfam’s Haiti Earthquake Response Fund. By purchasing this bag, which I specially designed, you are helping to provide life saving assistance like clean water to the people of Haiti.”
Beauty, brains, talent AND compassion? Just another reason to heart Scarlett more.
Cyndi Lauper and Lady GaGa Get Glam for V Magazine

Now these are two rockin' blondes I can get on board with! While I may have gone sour on the Widow Cobain, my love for Lady GaGa and the amazing Cyndi Lauper still reigns supreme. Therefore it should be no surprise that I'm going, well, gaga over these new photos from the duo's upcoming spread in March's V Magazine. The pics, which were shot by none other than my fave photographer Ellen Von Unwerth, feature Cyndi and GaGa glaming things up with a little M.A.C. makeup and just being silly. As you may recall, the divas are currently the spokeswomen for the M.A.C. Viva Glam Spring 2010 campaign which has raised more than $130 million for the M.A.C. AIDS FUND since 1994. On being the newest face of Viva Glam, Gaga says: “It’s quite awkward to be talking about my passion about the AIDS crisis and the gay community while doing my makeup but…Viva Glam!”

Courtney Love Has Nine Lives Too Many

Once upon a time, I thought that Courtney Love was the sun, the moon, and the stars. I perceived her as a flawless work of bitchery, sent from the planet perfection to reign supreme over us misfit punk rock girls. However with time, I began to see her for what she really is: A blabberjaw that talks a big 'ol game but can't back it up. Sure her style undeniably altered the way that the 90's saw female fashion, but if we're being totally honest here Kat Bjelland did it bigger and better and with more talent than CLove eva did. Then again, Love did have the smart sense to market her "kinder whore" status to the misguided XX's that followed her every lead. Still, there's something comforting and welcoming about CLove's presence. While she may not have had the musical talent of L7 or the political prowess of Kathleen Hannah (that's right, I just said that!) Love is one of the only punk princess of the 90's that WILL go down in the history books as a major player. Which brings me to my point: Despite the fact that CLove has not released an album since 2004 (and nay a successful record since 1998), she still got front billing for the cover of March's Spin. Sure "Nobody's Daughter" is slated for release on April 28th, but so what? Since when was the last time you saw Spin covering the latest Barenaked Ladies or Marcy's Playground release? The fact that Courtney Love is still relevant both boggles my mind and seems natural at the same time. What is it about the Window Cobain that we cannot shake? Is it her affilitation with Kurt? Her outrageous lies and fabrications? Or do we as humans just have something innate in us that has to see a train wreck all the way through? Regardless, there's no denying that while you may not Love her, you cannot ignore her. But you can take some Pepto to help with the dry heaves.

Katy Perry is Sweet and Sassy for Nylon

I have a confession to make: When Katy Perry first stepped onto the scene with her smash hit "I Kissed a Girl", I thought she was a mass marketed, pre-constructed, silly little songstress who was trivalizing gay relationships. I found her song to be offensive because it seemed to be an athemn of "Be pretend gay and boys will pay attention to you", rather than a simple song about exploring the bounds of your own sexuality. I mean, for God's sake, all we need are more misguided teenage girls exploiting their blossoming womanhood and acting like teen trollops. However, as time has passed I've come to see Ms. Perry in a different light. Her wacky antics and penchant for mischeif has led me to believe that "I Kissed a Girl" was nothing more than a fun, simple, innocent song. So now, despite my previous fear and loathing, I will readily admit that while I still may not gravitate towards Katy's music, I do find her to be agreeable, beautiful, and even kind of enchanting.
Let it never be said that I am a woman who cannot admit when she is wrong.
Anyihavenotransitionintothisnextparagraph, Katy can currently be seen looking super sweet and sassy for the March edition of Nylon. Not only do I love these photos, but their light colors and shades are making me miserable for spring. And more importantly, how effing envyworthy are those studded DSquared stillettos?!? If I was a shoe, I would definitely be those shoes.
